Cheering Up My Monday – Blackbird

4th January 2021.

Last winter I posted regularly for the #shortdayschallenge and I enjoyed it very much. This time round, I’m attempting something similar for #myjanuaryinspiration.

I’ve noticed the blackbirds eating the remaining apples on the tree. Generally, it seems they prefer those that have fallen. But supplies are becoming less regular and they eat from the tree to survive.
Yesterday, I introduced them to a large Golden Delicious and they like it. Upon inspection this morning, it has been completely devoured, yet it seems the outer skin is not to their liking.

What inspires you these January days?

That’s it for today, short & sweet. I’m planning some regular short bursts throughout January under the #myjanuaryinspiration umbrella. Slán go fóill.

  1. Blackbirds are fascinating … I’ve only had one rogue blackbird and he was very destructive … he even shouted at me every time I went near the vegetable garden.

January inspiration for me, so far, has been planting seeds and my Cubidium orchids which have been flowering since October.

    1. He’s almost a pet. Even when I’d walk past, he just walks slowly out of reach then back to business.
Have you ever seen drunk crows? We were astounded last August… They were eating hundreds of ants at ground level and were comatose for several hours. Even the lively dog was unsure how to react!
